The Design Vision
I work closely with DMV wedding planner Vicky of Create You Events to align the calligraphy with the overall vision. These place cards were for a colorful wedding held at 2941 Restaurant in Northern Virginia with a romance-meets-refreshing vibe.

Hand-torn cotton ivory paper, guest names calligraphed in gold ink, finished with a peach frayed ribbon… it’s soft, elegant, and just a little unexpected.
The Role of Calligraphy in the Tablescape
As a calligrapher, designer, and illustrator, I’ve always thought of calligraphy as a gesture of thoughtfulness. Even more so now that we are flooded with AI generated designs. The texture of the paper, the slightly raised finish of the ink, the flowing drape of the ribbon, and the slight variations of each letterform give each piece its character, and soul.

My flowing, organic style mirrors the playful curves of the citrus fruits and whimsical florals. The tablescape feels warm, personal, and quietly luxurious.

A Setting for Celebration
2941 Restaurant in Northern Virginia offers a clean, light-filled backdrop for the event. The photos capture the space’s balance of modern design and lush natural surroundings, which create a refined setting for romantic calligraphy details to shine.

Design Harmony: Color & Contrast
This wedding was bursting with cheerful pinks, oranges, and yellows, so the stationery offered some balance. They softened the overall look without taking away from the joyful color story.
