There’s a feeling of exclusivity when you step off an elevator at the Four Seasons Baltimore and greeted by a sign made just for you.
As a designer specializing in custom event signage, I believe a welcome sign can be more than just a visual marker for guests to know they’ve arrived, it also has the potential to be an on-brand beacon that makes guests instantly feel connected to the moment they are about to experience.
My assignment for this intimate milestone birthday event was to create a welcome sign that matched the soft, organic, pastel vibe within in a one-week turnaround!
The Venue: Four Seasons Residences, Baltimore
The Four Seasons Residences are premier waterfront condos above the Four Seasons Hotel in the Harbor East neighborhood of Baltimore. They offer an exclusive entertaining lounge for residents, with sweeping city and harbor views.
Like the hotel, the residences maintain a refined, high-touch experience, including a vetted vendor list, strict insurance requirements, and detailed security procedures for loading, unloading, and setup. When planning signage for an event here, timing and precision are key! Vendors must be ready to start promptly and wrap up exactly on schedule.
The Event Theme: Pastel Organic Florals
The party’s aesthetic was light and airy, with organically arranged pastel florals to balance the lounge’s clean, modern lines.
We kept the sign design intentionally simple, not just to shorten production time, but to complement the space, letting the floral elements provide a gentle burst of color while keeping the venue’s sunny, open atmosphere.
It wasn’t the most complex design, but it still featured a hand-drawn illustration of the birthday girl’s favorite flower: peonies! Simple but perfectly matched to the organic floral arrangements, it was just the right design for the space, the occasion, and the client’s needs.
